Is there any benefit to riding a super slammed setup? I was watching some old videos from Krisz and his seat is insanely low and that got me wondering if its helpful. For flips it might be better but does it help for spins or rolls?

I have noticed that a lower seat does help for a lot of flip tricks because it essentially gives you more airtime and more space to pull up on the seat. However, I’ve also found that a lower seat makes rolls more awkward, so I’ve tried to find a good middle ground so that rolls and flip+spin tricks feel equal

Personally, I really don’t like a low seat for techy over/under/spin stuff like 360-unders or x-up overs.

I would agree with Treys feeling. I would add, that it could be also a style decision

And low seat's bad for coast tricks.

Low seat and low tyre pressure was all the rage in the 2000's to early 2010's. I think it was largely a style thing and a misconception about it being better haha. I rode a much lower seat and tyre pressure for a few years but definitely prefer a higher seat and 35-ish psi in the tyre!

I see many old riders from around 2010 have low seat, including Colby lol.

for the coast part i'd say higher seat can add a bit difficulty to coasts with only the seat. sidecoast, regular sif coasts (known as ivar coast), prob baycoast and fitocoast as well maybe even the rare standup saddle surf would come into that category?

other coasts with contact points around the crown or so in addition to the seat seam to gain stability and control by the longer 'lever' that the higher seat gives, so prob easier or safer like that unless youre just really used to the lower or run into other specific geometrical or ergonomical phenomenoms

Thanks Sam for thinking of me! 😊 I briefly met Folke at Unicon last year, but he was recovering from a bad injury. I was then blown away by his level in his game of UNI with Mimo. This video part just consolidates that. Super creative in his own way, flowy, very solid.

eli, let me know if you would pay shipping for spokes and a 19" rim thats in rough condition. The rim is round but already started to crack in the joint it looks like so its literaly just laying around, thats the rim from daniel adelander, because im not riding 19" its just sitting, +i have a good condition 19" from an athmos that i could throw in there for cheap

sounds smart to go the robust way if possible but i mean if you just want mooore 36holers to run through in the meantime we could arrange that

Eli, you could try your luck at Goudurix here in Montreal. They seem to still sell QX unicycles. They may have wheelsets lying around. But shipping and taxes may be prohibitive currently…
