it's called cover because it covers the insert for the seatpostscrew, right? Am i the only one to have nightmares about this?

I guess its an easy scissorjob, but i dont wanna cut it more than necessary so i normaly put the post on first and then chop around a little with the scissor through the seatposts base, before searching for the thread blindly with the screw until it catches. Anybody know of a better strategy?

just try and finagle it to the side and jam the bolt in and give it a screw

Just feels so wrong to finagle it to that side after all the efoort to get it tight in this direction

just push the corner of the cover out of the way with a screwdriver or pick while you start threading the bolt?
