I've never paid attention to the width of spacer I use when assembling a wheel, I usually just try to find two that look similar in width. Some of my old moment cranks eventually get to a point where they wobble regardless of how hard they're tightened onto the hub -- even if I go without the spacer. I'm guessing this is because the spacers I used were too wide? (I feel like all the ones I've ever used have been standard sizes) Given that the crank gets tighter the further onto the hub it's pushed, how do you all decide what size spacer to use? Also - wouldn't it be smarter in that case to just go without a spacer so that the crank goes in as far as possible? I know some flatland riders like wide spacers because they provide more standing room for rolls. Thoughts?
