Guys I need help with my 360 flips… I have such a hard time getting a full twist. This is one of my best attempts so far :/
i have the same struggle even twisting without the flip 😔😔 Can we have some advice from luke collalto maybe a tutorial? 🙏🥲 Or street legend Hugo? I think a few times i might have had the chance to get it down ledge but just bail out cause i get so lost flying with that rotation and spotting for the landing, so maybe just push through with confidence to try landings with the extra airtime of a ledge is what im thinking.... Doing it down of course inplies doing it forward wich also feels totally different than doing it on the one spot which is what i always end up doing on flat 🤔 i dont know if going for 540 is what it'll take to eventually get at least thorough 360s, i was never really motivated to try 540 because i havent even nailed 360s, but overcompensation ye thats just another idea thats been hovering on the trickhomework that never gets done part of my brain for years
Yeah I’ve always found twists down ledges to be a different game than on flat, not sure it really helps that much, except maybe for 720s. At least for me, there always was a mental block to fully commit to the twist down something, which meant I didn’t gain much from the extra air time. How are your 360s by themselves Trey? From the clip, your approach looks good, with the fudge in and the arm swing. You could still maybe pre-twist your hips/shoulders more going into it. Basically, it’s virtually impossible to do more than a 180 out of no initial motion, your body needs something to counteract the twist. Sort of how when doing a late 180, the upper body usually ends up in the opposite direction as the lower body/wheel. So when I take of for a 360, my upper body is already 90 degrees rotated, and when landing, it’s lagging 90 degrees behind, meaning it actually only travelled 180 degrees while in the air.
Another thing to consider is your stance. You hold the saddle with your right hand and twist counter clockwise. That means your left hand does the swing twisting CCW. I’ve always found the arm motion slightly harder and less natural with that stance, though I know it’s still very possible to do at least 540s that way (probably even more, I don’t remember Luke’s, Max’s and Eddie’s stances…). So maybe give a few go blind?
And then, there’s the flip. You seem to focus a lot on the catch, which is super stylish, but it seems to correspond to the point where you stop twisting. Not sure if there’s an actual correlation there, cause there shouldn’t I’m thinking from a physics stand point… but anyways maybe try to focus more on the twist at first? On the other hand, I’ve seen great example of caught 360flips (probably Raphy?) where the catch seemed to help the end of the twist. Have you tried 360 lateflips? That’s how I initially learnt them, and I have different phases in my riding where I find myself switching between 360 lateflips and conventional 360flips. There are often 2 paradigms to look at any tricks I think: is this a 180flip + an extra 180, or is this a 360 + an extra crankflip? Switching between the 2 paradigms often help me break down a trick into smaller parts, which can then be built back up into the complete trick.
Sorry, long answer :P
Thanks Hugo! I'll keep all that in mind for my next "360 sesh"
