looks like youve got it if you just put the feet in! sure the wheel goes out to the front on some but its what happens when you bail out and need to land on the ground right! so i think once you really commit you'll be able to avoid that and get it

about what you say with the hands: i can so relate to getting stuck in a handpass/not being comfortable with the trick because the handwork is either holding back the spin or risking to loose the seat completely a bit (even scared the hands could end up under me when i go back to seat in sometimes)

The only concrete thing i can say from the clip is that your hands look far apart on the seat compared to most treys. your front hand is up on the handle. so if you wanna try starting with them tighter together, front hand on the beefy front part of the seat, maybe it’ll do something different 🤷 but it also looks like you can already do it so if you rather continue the way you’re doing it nevermind. its always good to fuck around though. try some stuff. the way you’re holding the handle and getting it around makes me think you might be one of those guys getting fulloutflip before the seat out version. Also if you prefer spinning the other direction dont be afraid to try also the trey that way! blind or also on switch? that day is gonna come anyways when your lineup fails and you need to jump switch, so why not start preparing

Wait hold on why would i need to change my stance to switch? And live tried to hold my hands closer together (not have front hand so far up) but my left hand doesnt rotate that well so its lowkey hurting my wrist and shoulder so thats why im almost holding the saddle. Id say the biggest issue with all of my flips is just committing cus my brain just wont let me do it no matter what. Kinda stops my progressing

Ah okay i mean it would pretty much fix the blind issue but it would be pretty tough to learn a new stance ngl. But my fullout flip is actually a bit closer than the trey but im just too scared to commit😿

It looks like you could get your feet on if you commit. I really liked Ivar’s advice to do a 3 spin (same direction) right before the Treyflip. Or if you prefer to do your 360s blind (away from front foot) then try the treys blind. Like Ivar said, experiment with different hand positions and spin directions - but don’t bother learning it switch. But I don’t agree that switch will be helpful or in any way easier.

About the hand positioning, I find that for most seat out tricks (e.g, treys, trey unders, fifths, 7s) it’s easier for my hand/wrist/arm to rotate if it’s a little further down on the seat, instead of at the handle. I think holding it at the handle works for seat in tricks but not really seat out tricks. Holding it at the handle when starting seat out might also be part of the reason why the uni turns sideways in the last 90 degrees of the spin, so holding closer to the middle might help it not do that so much (not completely sure but it’s a thought)

I do hold the seat on like the middle part or a little bit on front of that when i spin blind but when i try to spin normally my arm just doesnt rotate enough that i could hold there without it being uncomfortable. I had surgery on my left shoulder and it made my shoulder movement worse than my right shoulder. I did also try blind treys and they didnt feel good at all but fullouts feel nice so i think im just gonna work on them instead

And also i just cant get myself to commit to new tricks. For the last year its been my biggest struggle and i just dont know how to get over it :(

My way to deal with the not-enough-rotation is to start it like 3 spin but end it like fullout spin. I put my right hand on the saddle as soon as possible (like when it just reaches 90 degrees), and push it hard with both hands to make it spin faster. My right hand alone take over it upon landing.

I like Jun's advice, you could give that a try. Are you doing your fullout flips blind? i find that they are a lot easier for me blind than regular

Yeah im doing fullouts blind. And i do the non blind 3spins like Jun said because my wrist doesnt rotate past the 270 degree mark so i have to change hands. But i dont really have this issue with my right hand cus its healthy and normal

it's good that your fullouts are blind. i watched your first 5spin edit again and noticed you spin it blind. since you do your fullouts blind as well, it will be easier to learn more advanced flip tricks, such as blind outfifths, since it would not feel too different from your normal spinning direction

Jussi, I just saw your comment about committing. I struggle with that a lot as well. Sometimes I can go 20 minutes trying a trick, only putting one foot back on when I definitely could land it, and yet never committing. It can definitely get frustrating. It always helps having other people around to cheer you on and also pressure you to commit. But I think the most important thing to remember is that the first commit is always the hardest. We’re afraid of falling, of course, but even scarier is not knowing HOW you’re going to fall. Once you commit that first time to the new trick, you probably won’t land it right away, but you’ll figure out how to bail with that trick, and how you’re going to fall when you mess up (and you always realize that the fail wasn’t nearly as bad as you were afraid it was going to be). So once you commit once, it’s A LOT easier to commit again. You just have to commit once.

That said, I still find that almost every session, I’m telling myself “remember, the first commit is the hardest.”

And Ivar’s advice on the Treyflip is also great for just committing: do a similar, simpler trick right before. I’ve been putting it into practice and it has already been helping me a lot when I’ve been seshing this past week

There is some great advice in here. My 10 cents are as follows: If you're close to full out flip, skip over trey flips, they are less superior in every way haha. Work on your hand pass, even for a 360° spin it's super helpful to have a solid pass to your second hand for solid landings. Re commitment: once you've got the spin and flip consistent, try landing a handful front foot on, then a handful back foot on, then go for it. Also, I find it helps to hit yourself with consequences for not committing (once you're warmed up and ready to start comitting of course) - "If I don't commit then I miss out on this favourite thing of mine for a day"... Etc.

I do that all the time!! I'll tell myself, if i don't commit THIS TRY, i don't get ice cream this week, or if i commit RIGHT NOW, i can have a Dr Pepper (which btw is superior to CocaCola, much like fullout flips are superior to trey flips, the only difference is i prefer trey flips because i can do more variations with treys than fullout)

and if i'm having a really hard time committing, i'll tell myself the session is over if i don't commit next try. Works every time. Until you don't hold yourself to it, then it will never work again

Okay yesterday i had a session and i was trying to go for fulloutflips but i just cant commit. No matter what i tell myself, i cant go for it. I did land hick double which was nice but i cant commit to flips where the une is under me (or its like 100x harder to commit to those). I gotta figure out fast how to get over this

Work on your in flips, in changes, in doubles etc. It's like the second half of your trey or full out flip. Get them dialled and it might help.

Im gonna work on fullouts tomorrow probably. Just had a session and tried the thing where i will go home if i dont commit and i eventually landed doubleflips so it clearly works well. Gonna test the same thing. My inflips are feeling pretty dialed but in changes ive never even tried
