(No Vid) Reflection on Today's Session ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I didn't feel it at the time, but my session last week definitely worsened my rolled ankle. It's finally started feeling a bit better, so I went out for 45 mins today.
Observations:
- I spent all my time & energy chasing one trick that I never landed. I had no energy for anything else. I didn't land a single thing!
- The slight nag of pain in my ankle triggered huge fear to commit to tricks.
- My expectations of 'success' dampened my headspace. I just couldn't let myself enjoy this time I made for myself.
For anyone with limited time to ride, what's your approach to practice/sessions? I've asked this before... but I need to reconsider how I spend my time, and how I keep my mind right.

Golden Hour
Short grind sesh at the skatepark tonight. Again trying to clean up old stuff.
https://youtu.be/cSMVFRAsCkE
Anybody else has a natural stance where they need to do 'hard' spins (as per Kyle's lexicon) out of grinds? e.g. in my case, I grind LFF and my out spins are CW.
It's ridiculous how much easier out backflips are compared to outflips, even if it's technically from a blind grind... Do you think it would be worth learning blind full outflips for the very specific case of tricks out of grinds? Full outflips out would probably eventually be possible, but currently they feel really awkward...

New Spot
Sessioned a chill new spot at the park this evening.
https://youtu.be/HVp6r5s_MgQ
On the menu: relearning hickflips and sexchanges, slowly working back towards 540's and some fun on small obstacles.
I'm starting to like the idea of filming most of my sessions, but from a learning perspective for once. While editing, I can look back at what I'm doing wrong and try to adjust on the next ride. It's nice to know that there's this raw footage somewhere online unlisted as a reference.
I guess I should fix my spokes...

Commitment Issues
Here's a recap of tonight's session, following my viewing of Sam's vlog.
https://youtu.be/_anpgk-flYk
Was inspired by Sam's varial fakieflips and backside tricks. Took a while to commit to the latest, but eventually got there.
It's obviously not much, but to land that out backside was a major milestone for me. Not for the particular trick in itself, but IIRC, it's been 11 years since I landed a new trick. Everything else since 2013 had been variations or lines using the same tricks. (Coincidently, I believe my previous latest trick was revflip, which I just relanded tonight 🤷)
Some riders chase personal new tricks or NBDs, which is truely great to see for all of us. I decided some time ago I'd stop that, probably because I was in a comfortable spot with my riding. I told myself I was happy with my modest bag of tricks and didn't want to risk anything learning new stuff. Then I got stuck in that mindset and commiting to new tricks started to feel daunting. Thinking back on it, I realize that the fact I stopped pushing may have been one of the reasons why I lost interest in unicycling at the time.
My conclusion of today's therapy session would probably be that, at least in my case, there should be a balance between novelty and betterment, to maintain the appeal. All in all, to just do what makes us happy. We're all just clowns riding around on one-wheeled bikes anyway. There's no point to it. Might at least enjoy it.
tl;dr I had a great time riding tonight. Thanks to everyone on here! 😊

3 set and manny
Hello again!
Today's session was on a 3 set at the skatepark and another old spot we used to ride, a crappy, uneven, too high, too long manny pad. (That's me finding excuses.)
Happy with some of the tricks, slowly getting back into shape.

On a side note, I'm open to suggestions if you have an idea on how to share these short vids, if this is too much spam for the posts section. If all goes right, there are still 10 or so left before I leave...!

"I should be able to do that..."
Today's session was on one of my favorite 5 set (because it's so tiny :P ). Again, just brushing up on some basic small street stuff. A few fakie tricks as well, inspired by Sam's sesh.
Need to work on my pop next time...

The Grind
Yesterday's skatepark session. Not very enjoyable to watch, but here it is anyway!
Wanted to re-learn flips to grind, but that took much longer than expected. I decided to break it down to make it easier. Somehow, it's only during the edit that I noticed I was always leaning too much forward. I'll try and fix that next time!

I rode the unicycle today
Considering Unicon is approaching and I haven't really been on the one-wheel for more than a year, I thought I'd start riding more regularly.
Went for a short session this morning to relearn some basic tricks.

Pro unicyclist?
After 4 years of unicycling and a lot of planning, paperstuff and rehearsing, this weekend i did my first unicycle show (with a salary :P). I did it in a festival near my hometown, and it seems like i'm becoming a professionnal unicyclist (i don't mean i'm the best unicyclist ever, but i'm becoming a full time unicyclist!!!) and i'm sooooo happy about it!!!
So i wanna thank Ivar Christenson and Eddie Ducol, who gave me advice when i was working on my act, and all of Skrrrt, cause feeling surrounded by so many great unicyclists and cool people feels very inspirational!
(sorry for the cliché speech i'm just really happy ^^)
